Kyra Joiner is a dynamic and charismatic sports and entertainment professional with over 15 years of experience in the industry including expertise in corporate partnerships, event management, sponsorship sales, and professional athlete endorsements. Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Kyra earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising from Southeast Missouri State, where she was a member of the Track and Field team.
Using her knowledge of advertising and brand marketing, she transitioned her passion for sports into a career with her hometown Major League Baseball team, the St Louis Cardinals. While with the Cardinals (2006 - 2012) she negotiated and managed key team sponsorships with several leading brands, playing a critical role in the success of their partnership and activation within the demographic market. Following the 2006 and 2011 World Series wins, Kyra led the planning efforts for a mobile tour of the World Series Trophy across the Mid-West.
Wanting to expand her marketing knowledge across sports properties, Kyra headed to Phoenix, Arizona to join the corporate partnerships team for the NBA and WNBA teams, the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury (2012 - 2016). Through that experience, Kyra continued to develop in new facets of the sports business and expanded her expertise in brand partnerships and marketing strategy.
Having a multi-sport platform and experience with developing sports marketing campaigns for brands across several industries, created an opportunity for Kyra to transition from professional sports teams to working for Octagon, a global industry leading agency in sports and entertainment.
Within her role, Kyra oversees the strategic planning of a brands national partnerships with the NBA and WNBA; managing strategic marketing developments – consumer programs, experiential marketing, community engagement, and NBA player ambassador integrations. Though her role within the agency, Kyra expanded her knowledge of league partnership contracts and player ambassador contracts and developed her leadership skills, leading and presenting initiatives to key decision makers, participating in speaking engagements and being a mentor for others that are new in the industry.
